Sometimes the most strategic decision an organization can make is to let something go. In complex organizations and programmes, particularly under tight budgets, what is needed is not only the capacity to innovate but also the courage to stop: consciously ending, reducing or reorienting activities that have failed to deliver their intended effect or tie up resources without generating real value.

Sunsetting can emerge as a follow-up to external evaluation, when analysis of internal and external perspectives reveals where change is needed and learning processes begin. It can also be a natural outcome of working more efficiently – identifying synergies, eliminating duplication, focusing effort where it matters most. In times of constrained budgets, growing administrative complexity and organizational overload, sunsetting can be a strategic tool – bringing greater impact, clarity and focus. The goal is to make the best possible use of our clients’ and partners’ time and expertise.

We see our role as temporary by design. Our goal is to strengthen structures and capabilities so that organizations can continue to work independently. Lasting dependence on our consulting services is neither our aim nor our idea of effective cooperation.

 

Working With Us

RADI supports sunsetting projects both in content and process. Through workshops and consultations, we build shared understanding of why change is needed, identify where to start and develop concrete action strategies. We work with leadership and operational teams alike – in a spirit that is trusting, pragmatic and focused on solutions. For longer term engagements, we support implementation, communication and the transfer of activities to new structures or processes.
