RADI’s View: Eva­lua­ti­on as a Shared Lear­ning Oppor­tu­ni­ty

With RADI Consulting, I have expanded my service offer to evaluations of cooperation projects. 

After many years of supporting project preparation and implementation, it is a great pleasure to take a different angle and look at projects from an evaluator’s perspective, with a fresh and impartial look paired with openness and curiosity.

At RADI, we approach evaluation as a shared learning opportunity. Therefore, we adapt the evaluation design to the specific needs of each project and include innovative approaches, to foster participation and the possibility for stakeholders to learn something new (beyond the evaluation report). 

The ‘global exchange’ method, for example, brings project stakeholders together in online events to share and discuss success stories and learning journeys that were enabled by the project. While stakeholders share their key insights and learn from each other, the evaluation team can gather valuable information about the project’s effectiveness, impact and sustainability. Open presentations and small group discussions often allow to get more authentic insights into the project and give a voice to more stakeholders than in bilateral interviews. We piloted this successfully in the evaluation of a Don Bosco Mondo project in eight countries in the ASEAN region with a focus on technical and vocational education and training (TVET).

Moreover, RADI’s consulting network allows us to build evaluation teams that combine long-term evaluation experience with fresh insights, and to involve experts with specific topic or country/regional expertise. In this way, every evaluation project is also an opportunity to work with inspiring new and well-known colleagues.
